The Agronomy Group is a professional development programme designed for individuals working within the agricultural and crop production sectors who wish to develop and maintain their knowledge of agronomy, integrated crop management and crop nutrition.

Delivered over six sessions throughout the growing season, the programme provides timely technical updates aligned to current crop growth stages, seasonal challenges and changes in legislation. Through a combination of technical presentations, practical discussion and knowledge sharing, delegates develop a greater understanding of crop protection, nutrition, pest and disease management, and current industry best practice.

The programme is suitable both as a standalone introduction to agronomy and as preparation for further professional qualifications, including the BASIS Certificate in Crop Protection and FACTS. Attendees also benefit from continuing professional development (CPD) through the award of BASIS and NRoSO points where applicable.

Practical Learning

The programme combines classroom-based technical presentations with group discussion, seasonal crop reviews and practical field-based learning where appropriate. Delegates are encouraged to share experiences, discuss current agronomic challenges and apply technical knowledge to real farming situations.

Assessment

There is no formal practical assessment for this programme. Learning is supported through tutor-led discussion, technical presentations and participation throughout each session.

Certification

Delegates who successfully complete the programme will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Entry Requirements

The programme also provides approximately 12 NRoSO Points and 36 BASIS Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Points across the six sessions, subject to attendance requirements.

Programme Duration

There are no formal entry requirements. The programme is suitable for individuals with an interest in crop production and agronomy, from those seeking an introduction to the subject through to experienced professionals wishing to maintain and develop their technical knowledge.

The Agronomy Group is delivered as a six-session programme running annually between February and September. Sessions are hosted by participating organisations within the local area, with attendees taking turns to host throughout the programme.

Booking is for the complete six-session programme, and fees apply for all sessions regardless of individual attendance.
