The CIEH Basic Food Hygiene (Level 2) course provides learners with the knowledge required to handle, prepare and store food safely in accordance with current food safety legislation and industry best practice.

Combining tutor-led learning with practical examples and workplace scenarios, delegates will develop an understanding of food hygiene principles, contamination risks, personal hygiene, food safety management and the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the food preparation process. The course is suitable for anyone involved in the preparation, handling or serving of food and supports compliance with food safety legislation.

Assessment

Delegates are assessed by means of a CIEH-approved multiple-choice examination, designed to confirm their understanding of food hygiene principles and safe food handling practices.


Certification

Upon successful completion of the assessment, delegates will receive the CIEH Level 2 Award in Food Safety (or current equivalent certification issued through the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and the approved training centre).

This nationally recognised qualification demonstrates that the holder has achieved the required standard of knowledge in food hygiene and safe food handling practices.


Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Delegates should possess a sufficient understanding of spoken and written English to fully participate in training and complete the assessment.


Course Duration

Course duration will vary depending on the number of delegates attending and organisational requirements. Training is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding required to successfully complete the CIEH Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification.
