Description
This 7 hour JAUPT approved periodic training course is classroom based and covers a wide range of topics that every HGV/PSV driver must have knowledge of, if he or she is to protect their vocational driving licence. Broken down into seven separate sessions of interactive training, the course content includes the obligations entered into by every HGV/PSV driver when they take a commercial truck or bus out onto the road; a quick run through of manual handling/working at height and safe access and egress from the commercial vehicle, then useful information on just what it means to be 'fit to drive'. Attendees are taken through the background to some well publicised road traffic incidents that involved commercial vehicles and what the consequences were for those involved and how to drive in such a way as to avoid being accused of being a careless or dangerous driver. Finally, the day is rounded off with a run through the highway code and how to be a safe and vigilant driver. Anyone who undertakes this course will have their attendance registered with the DVSA recording and evidence department, as one of the seven hours approved courses that all vocational, professional category C (HGV) or D (PSV) drivers must attend within every five year period if they want to continue driving professionally.
