The Dangerous Goods Safety Awareness course provides learners with the knowledge required to recognise the hazards associated with dangerous goods and understand the legal responsibilities for their safe handling, storage, transportation and management in accordance with current legislation and industry best practice.

Combining tutor-led learning with practical examples and workplace scenarios, delegates will develop an understanding of dangerous goods classifications, hazard communication, packaging, labelling, documentation and emergency procedures. The course is suitable for anyone who works with, handles or is responsible for dangerous goods but does not require the specialist knowledge associated with formal Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) training.

Training is delivered in line with the UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard, ensuring a structured, competence-based approach that provides delegates with the knowledge required to work safely with dangerous goods within the workplace.

Assessment

Assessment is conducted against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate, demonstrating that they have successfully achieved the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UKRS Course Standard.

This course provides an awareness of dangerous goods legislation and safe working practices. It does not qualify delegates as a Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser (DGSA) or replace role-specific training required under transport regulations.
