Description
This course is designed for employees who require an understanding of the importance of protecting confidential, sensitive and business-critical information and their responsibilities for maintaining information security within the workplace. The course introduces information as an important organisational asset and considers the potential consequences of information being lost, corrupted, disclosed or accessed without authorisation. It explores threats to information security, including deliberate and accidental disclosure, inappropriate access and the particular risks that may arise from individuals within an organisation. Learners consider the importance of maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of workplace information and adopting appropriate behaviours when accessing, using, storing, sharing and disposing of information. The course reinforces the need to protect confidential and sensitive information from unauthorised access and to follow organisational information security policies, procedures and access controls. The course also encourages learners to recognise their individual role in maintaining effective information security, exercise appropriate care when handling organisational information and promptly report suspected security incidents, inappropriate access, loss or disclosure in accordance with workplace procedures.
