The Irrigation Safety Awareness for Operators course provides learners with the knowledge required to safely plan, set up and work with agricultural irrigation systems in accordance with current health and safety legislation and industry best practice.

Combining tutor-led learning with practical examples, photographs and workplace scenarios, delegates will develop an understanding of the hazards associated with irrigation equipment, safe setup procedures, pressurised water systems, pumps, pipework and associated machinery. The course is designed to promote safe working practices and reduce the risks associated with installing, operating and maintaining irrigation systems within agricultural and horticultural environments.

Training is delivered in line with the UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard, ensuring a structured, competence-based awareness programme that provides delegates with the knowledge required to work safely around irrigation systems.

Assessment

Delegates are assessed throughout the course through instructor questioning, participation in discussions and knowledge-based assessment to confirm their understanding of irrigation safety principles and safe working practices. Assessment is conducted against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate, demonstrating that they have successfully achieved the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UKRS Course Standard.

This course provides safety awareness training and is designed to support safe working practices around irrigation systems. It does not assess practical operating competence or replace equipment-specific instruction provided by employers or manufacturers.
