Description
This course is ideal for managers and operators that are new to maize growing, as well as providing the more experienced growers with an update on the new methods, to help achieve better maize crops. The course will incorporate the following points:
• Crop variety choice & seed dressing,
• Maize physiology,
• Soil type in East Anglia and effect on maize,
• Seed bed preparation, drilling depth, row width, seed populations and starter fertiliser use,
• Nutrient management,
• Weed control – what existing and new chemistry is available,
• Post-emergence and pre-emergence herbicides,
• Use of organic manure waste,
• Irrigation on maize, water volume effect on yield.
