Description

This course is designed for managers, supervisors and team leaders who require an understanding of modern slavery and their responsibilities for recognising, preventing and responding to potential exploitation within the workplace and organisational supply chains. The course introduces the different forms of modern slavery, including domestic servitude, criminal exploitation, sexual exploitation and labour exploitation. Learners develop awareness of behavioural, physical, psychological and situational indicators that may suggest exploitation and consider how modern slavery risks may arise through employment practices, recruitment, contractors and supply chains. Learners explore their responsibilities as managers in supporting appropriate anti-slavery practices, including maintaining awareness of employee welfare, preventing excessive working hours, supporting appropriate time off and applying robust recruitment practices. The course also considers organisational responsibilities under the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and the role of Modern Slavery Statements. The course develops understanding of how concerns should be reported safely and how managers can support employees and teams following a suspected or identified case. Learners also consider supply-chain due diligence, including supply-chain mapping, risk assessment, reviewing supplier policies and procedures, auditing arrangements and appropriate contractual controls.
