Description

This course is designed for office workers who require an understanding of ergonomic principles and how to identify and manage ergonomic hazards associated with their workstation, equipment and working environment. The course introduces ergonomics and considers how the design and arrangement of workplaces, equipment and systems can affect comfort, safety and productivity. Learners develop an understanding of common ergonomic hazards encountered in office environments and how unsuitable workstation arrangements or working practices may contribute to discomfort, strain and musculoskeletal injury. Learners consider how to identify ergonomic hazards associated with their equipment and working environment and assess the risks arising from them. The course explores practical measures that can be taken to improve workstation ergonomics, including appropriately arranging and adjusting equipment, maintaining suitable working positions and adapting working practices to reduce unnecessary physical strain. The course reinforces the importance of recognising and addressing ergonomic concerns at an early stage and applying appropriate workplace controls to support a safe, comfortable and productive working environment. This eLearning course provides awareness and underpinning knowledge of office ergonomics. It does not replace an individual workstation or Display Screen Equipment assessment, specialist ergonomic assessment or workplace-specific adjustments where these are required.
