Description
The Basic Food Hygiene course provides learners with the knowledge required to handle, prepare and store food safely in accordance with current food safety legislation and industry best practice.
Combining tutor-led learning with practical examples and workplace scenarios, delegates will develop an understanding of food hygiene principles, contamination risks, personal hygiene, safe food handling and the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the food preparation process.
Training is delivered in line with the UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard, ensuring a structured, competence-based approach that provides delegates with the knowledge required to work safely and hygienically within food handling environments.

Assessment
Delegates are assessed throughout the course through knowledge-based questioning and participation to confirm their understanding of food hygiene principles and safe food handling practices. Assessment is conducted against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate, demonstrating that they have successfully achieved the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UKRS Course Standard.
Please note that this course provides an introduction to food hygiene principles and safe food handling practices. It does not constitute a regulated food safety qualification unless specifically stated.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Delegates should possess a sufficient understanding of spoken and written English to fully participate in training and assessment.
