The Confined Spaces - Procedures Awareness course provides learners with the knowledge required to recognise confined space hazards, understand safe working procedures and appreciate the legal responsibilities associated with confined space operations in accordance with current industry best practice and relevant health and safety legislation.

Combining classroom-based learning with practical demonstrations and workplace scenarios, delegates will develop an understanding of confined space classifications, risk assessment, permit-to-work systems, atmospheric hazards, emergency procedures and the principles of safe entry arrangements. This course is intended for individuals who require an awareness of confined space procedures but are not expected to undertake practical entry training as part of the programme.

Training is delivered in line with the UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard, ensuring a structured, competence-based approach that provides delegates with the knowledge required to contribute to safe confined space operations within their workplace.

Assessment

Delegates are assessed through instructor questioning and knowledge-based assessment to confirm their understanding of confined space hazards, safe working procedures and legal responsibilities. Assessment is conducted against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate, demonstrating that they have successfully achieved the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UKRS Course Standard.

This course provides procedures awareness only and does not qualify delegates to enter or work within confined spaces. Personnel who are required to undertake confined space entry should complete the appropriate practical confined space training for the level of risk involved.
