Description

This course is designed for employees who require an understanding of workplace emergency procedures and the actions they may need to take to protect themselves and others during an emergency. The course introduces emergency preparedness and considers a range of potential workplace emergencies, including fires, medical emergencies, hazardous substance incidents, bomb or suspicious package threats, personal threats and external emergencies. It explores the roles of emergency response personnel, the importance of emergency plans and diagrams, emergency equipment and the procedures for raising the alarm and obtaining appropriate assistance. The course also covers evacuation procedures, emergency warning systems, assembly areas and arrangements for individuals who may require additional assistance. Learners consider how to respond appropriately to different emergency situations, including when evacuation, sheltering in place or lockdown may be required, and the importance of following instructions from designated emergency personnel and the emergency services.
