Description
The Fire Marshal / Fire Warden - Fire Safety and Extinguisher Awareness course provides learners with the knowledge required to carry out the duties of a workplace Fire Marshal or Fire Warden, understand fire safety legislation and support effective fire prevention, evacuation and emergency procedures.
Combining tutor-led learning with practical demonstrations and workplace scenarios, delegates will develop an understanding of fire hazards, fire risk control measures, evacuation procedures, the responsibilities of a Fire Marshal or Fire Warden, and the safe selection and use of portable fire extinguishers. This course is designed to provide the knowledge required to assist with workplace fire safety and emergency planning, rather than operational firefighting.
Training is delivered in line with the UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard, ensuring a structured, competence-based approach that provides delegates with the knowledge required to undertake Fire Marshal or Fire Warden responsibilities within the workplace.

Assessment
Delegates are assessed throughout the course through instructor questioning, practical activities and knowledge-based assessment to confirm their understanding of workplace fire safety, Fire Marshal or Fire Warden responsibilities and emergency procedures. Assessment is conducted against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate, demonstrating that they have successfully achieved the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UKRS Course Standard.
This course provides the knowledge required to undertake the role of a workplace Fire Marshal or Fire Warden and includes awareness of the safe selection and use of portable fire extinguishers. Delegates should only attempt to tackle a fire where it is safe to do so, they have received appropriate training, and their workplace emergency procedures permit such action.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Delegates should possess a sufficient understanding of spoken and written English to fully participate in training and assessment.

Course duration will vary depending on the number of delegates attending and organisational requirements. Training is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge and understanding required to fulfil the role of a workplace Fire Marshal or Fire Warden, support fire prevention measures and contribute to safe emergency evacuation procedures.
