Description
The Gas Cylinder Safety in the Workplace (Oxy-Acetylene, Propane and Ethylene) course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to safely handle, transport, store and use compressed gas cylinders in accordance with current industry best practice and relevant health and safety legislation.
Combining classroom-based learning with practical demonstrations and workplace scenarios, delegates will develop an understanding of the hazards associated with compressed gases, safe cylinder handling techniques, equipment inspection, storage requirements and emergency procedures. The course is particularly relevant for those working with oxy-acetylene, propane and ethylene systems used in welding, cutting, heating and maintenance operations.
Training is delivered in line with the UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard, ensuring a structured, competence-based approach that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application relevant to the workplace.

Assessment
Delegates are assessed throughout the course through instructor questioning, practical observation and knowledge-based assessment to confirm their understanding of safe gas cylinder handling and workplace safety. Assessment is conducted against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate, demonstrating that they have successfully achieved the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UKRS Course Standard.
This course provides the knowledge and practical understanding required to safely handle and use compressed gas cylinders within the workplace. Employers remain responsible for ensuring that suitable equipment, maintenance, inspection and site-specific safe systems of work are in place.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Delegates should possess a sufficient understanding of spoken and written English to fully participate in training and assessment.
