Description

This course is designed for employees and other individuals who require an awareness of modern slavery, how exploitation may occur and how to recognise and appropriately report potential concerns. The course introduces modern slavery and the different forms that exploitation can take, including domestic servitude, criminal exploitation, sexual exploitation and labour exploitation. Learners consider how modern slavery can occur within workplaces, recruitment processes, third-party arrangements and organisational supply chains, together with the responsibilities of organisations in helping to prevent exploitative practices. Learners develop awareness of potential behavioural, physical, psychological and situational indicators of modern slavery, while recognising that individual warning signs do not necessarily confirm that exploitation is taking place. The course considers circumstances and industries where individuals may be particularly vulnerable and reinforces the importance of remaining vigilant to potential concerns. The course also explains how suspected modern slavery should be reported safely through appropriate organisational and external channels. Learners consider their responsibility to report concerns without personally investigating, approaching suspected perpetrators or taking actions that could place themselves or others at risk.
