Description
This course is designed for managers, supervisors and other individuals who have responsibility for managing the departure of employees and require an understanding of how to conduct the offboarding process consistently, securely and professionally. The course introduces the purpose and importance of effective offboarding and considers how a structured approach can support a smooth transition for the departing employee, their team and the wider organisation. Learners consider the importance of protecting organisational information, recovering company property, maintaining appropriate relationships, obtaining constructive feedback and ensuring essential administrative requirements are completed. Learners are introduced to the key stages of the offboarding process, including recovering organisational assets, restricting or revoking access to IT systems, planning for the departure, completing relevant documentation, confirming final working arrangements and pay details, and communicating the departure appropriately to relevant stakeholders. The course also considers continuity arrangements, including succession planning, transferring responsibilities and organisational knowledge, preparing documentation and supporting the training or handover of a replacement. Learners explore the purpose of exit interviews and how feedback from departing employees can contribute to organisational improvement. Finally, the course considers maintaining appropriate professional relationships with former employees following an amicable departure and ensuring organisational charts, directories, websites and other materials are updated to reflect staffing changes.
