Description
This course standard has been developed to address the significant risks associated with lifting operations involving suspended loads within land-based, construction and industrial sectors. Suspended load operations present complex hazards including load instability, equipment misuse, environmental factors and communication failure. This programme ensures that operators develop the competence required to plan, assess and execute lifting operations safely and effectively. The course is designed for experienced equipment operators who are required to undertake lifting tasks involving suspended loads, either independently or in coordination with slinger/signallers. The standard aligns with relevant legislation including, but not limited to: Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998, Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) 1998, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations (MHSWR) 1999 HSE Guidance including INDG 241 and INDG 199, Safety Signs and Signals Regulations (L64). National Occupational Standards (NOS), including but not limited to: Lifting and transferring loads, Workplace transport operations, Maintaining health and safety in land-based industries. This programme supports development of competent, safe operators capable of reducing risk, preventing incidents and maintaining compliance within workplace environments.
