Description


This course is designed for individuals who want to develop their understanding of anxiety and how to appropriately support colleagues who may be experiencing an anxiety disorder. The course introduces the difference between normal feelings of anxiety and anxiety disorders and considers common types of anxiety, their symptoms and potential causes. Learners develop an awareness of how anxiety can affect an individual and the importance of avoiding assumptions or attempting to diagnose a colleague. Learners explore how to approach and communicate with someone who appears to be struggling, including listening without judgement, respecting confidentiality and encouraging appropriate professional support. The course also considers treatment, recovery and relapse and how colleagues can provide appropriate ongoing support. Overall, the course aims to increase understanding of anxiety and provide learners with the knowledge and confidence to respond sensitively and appropriately when supporting a colleague who may be experiencing anxiety.
