The Trailer Maintenance course provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required to safely carry out routine maintenance and inspections on agricultural and commercial trailers in accordance with current industry best practice and relevant health and safety legislation.

Combining classroom-based learning with practical demonstrations and hands-on maintenance activities, delegates will develop the knowledge and confidence required to identify common hazards, carry out routine inspections, recognise wear and defects, perform basic maintenance tasks and report faults that require further repair. The course promotes safe working practices and preventative maintenance to improve trailer safety, reliability and operational performance.

Training is delivered in line with the UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard, ensuring a structured, competence-based programme that combines theoretical knowledge with practical workplace application.

Assessment

Delegates are assessed throughout the course through instructor questioning, practical observation and routine maintenance activities to confirm their knowledge, understanding and practical competence. Assessment is conducted against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate, demonstrating that they have successfully achieved the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UKRS Course Standard.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Delegates should possess a sufficient understanding of spoken and written English to fully participate in training and practical activities. Previous experience of agricultural or commercial trailers would be beneficial but is not essential.
