The First Aid Refresher eLearning course provides learners with an opportunity to refresh their awareness of basic first aid principles and the appropriate actions to take when responding to common injuries and medical emergencies.

The course revisits key first aid considerations, including assessing an incident, seeking appropriate assistance and providing initial support until further help is available. Learners will review common first aid situations and the importance of responding calmly, safely and within the limits of their knowledge and training.

• Identifying immediate risks to the casualty and others.

• Carrying out an initial assessment of a casualty.

• Awareness of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
• Awareness of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
• Responding to a casualty who is breathing but unresponsive.

• Monitoring a casualty while awaiting further assistance.

Course Delivery

This course is delivered as self-directed eLearning through the ELMO learning platform.

Learners can work through the course at their own pace and can move backwards and forwards through the learning content as required. The course does not need to be completed in one sitting, allowing learners to leave and return to their training where necessary.

Interactive activities may be included throughout the course to reinforce key learning points.

Assessment

Knowledge and understanding are checked through online assessment activities. Depending on the course content, these may include multiple-choice questions, matching exercises, drag-and-drop activities and image-based questions.

A minimum score of 70% is required to successfully complete the course.

Certification

Upon successful completion of the course and assessment requirements, learners will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate of Training.

This eLearning course is intended to refresh first aid knowledge and awareness only. It does not provide or renew a regulated workplace first aid qualification, such as Emergency First Aid at Work or First Aid at Work, and does not replace any practical training or assessment required to demonstrate first aid competence.

Course Duration

The course is self-directed and learners can progress through the content at their own pace. Completion time may therefore vary depending on the individual learner.
