Description
This course is designed for individuals who have previously received first aid training and want to refresh their understanding of key first aid principles, responsibilities and emergency response procedures. The course revisits the DRSABC action plan, casualty assessment, CPR, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and appropriate responses to unconscious casualties. It also reviews the recognition and initial management of a range of common injuries and medical emergencies, including choking, bleeding, burns, fractures, electric shock, allergic reactions, asthma, seizures, stroke, heart attack and temperature-related illness. Learners also revisit their responsibilities when providing first aid, including consent, working within the limits of their competence, incident reporting and referral for further medical treatment. This eLearning course is intended to refresh existing knowledge and does not qualify an individual as a workplace first aider or replace any required practical first aid training, assessment or certification.
