Description


The Food Hygiene for Farm Assurance Schemes course provides learners with the knowledge and practical understanding required to apply good food hygiene practices within primary agricultural production and support compliance with farm assurance scheme requirements.

Combining classroom-based learning with practical examples and farm-based scenarios, delegates will develop an understanding of food hygiene principles, contamination risks, personal hygiene, cleaning and disinfection, traceability and record keeping. The course also explores the food safety expectations of recognised farm assurance schemes, enabling delegates to contribute to safe food production and maintain high standards of hygiene throughout agricultural operations.

Training is delivered in line with the UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard, ensuring a structured, competence-based approach that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application relevant to modern farming businesses.

Assessment

Assessment is conducted against the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Course Standard.


Certification

Upon successful completion of the course, delegates will receive a UK Rural Skills (UKRS) Accredited Certificate, demonstrating that they have successfully achieved the learning outcomes and assessment criteria specified within the relevant UKRS Course Standard.

This course supports agricultural businesses in meeting the food hygiene expectations commonly associated with recognised farm assurance schemes. It complements, but does not replace, individual scheme-specific requirements or audit criteria.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Delegates should possess a sufficient understanding of spoken and written English to fully participate in training and assessment.
