Description

This course is designed for employees who operate, work with or work around forklift trucks and require an understanding of forklift stability and the factors that can contribute to overturning or loss of control. The course introduces the principles of forklift stability and considers how loads, load positioning, operating surfaces, gradients, speed and changes in direction can affect the stability of a forklift. It explores common situations that can increase the risk of a tip-over and the importance of following safe working practices when lifting, travelling and manoeuvring. The course also considers the risks that unstable forklift operations can present to operators, pedestrians and others in the workplace. Learners develop an awareness of practical precautions for reducing stability-related risks and the importance of operating within the capabilities and limitations of the equipment. This eLearning course provides awareness of forklift stability only and does not qualify or demonstrate competence for an individual to operate a forklift truck. Practical operator training and assessment must be completed separately where required.
