Description
This course is designed for managers, supervisors and team leaders who are responsible for leading employees working within virtual, remote or hybrid teams and wish to develop the skills required to manage and support them effectively. The course introduces the nature of virtual working and considers fully virtual, hybrid and flexible teams, together with the benefits and challenges these working arrangements can present. Learners explore how effective virtual leadership requires adaptability, collaboration, communication, networking, decision-making, planning, integrity and the ability to influence and motivate others. Learners consider common challenges associated with leading virtual teams, including maintaining effective communication, balancing the needs of onsite and remote workers, creating an inclusive team culture, managing across different locations and time zones, monitoring performance and maintaining trust. The course explores practical approaches to overcoming these challenges through appropriate communication, collaborative working, regular contact, clear expectations, effective performance management, coaching and feedback. The course also considers the importance of providing equitable opportunities and support to all team members regardless of where they work, maintaining engagement and collaboration, recognising individual contributions and adapting leadership practices to create an effective, inclusive and productive virtual team.
