The First Aid at Work (Initial 3 Day Qualification) course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to become a qualified workplace first aider, enabling them to respond confidently and effectively to a wide range of medical emergencies in accordance with current first aid guidance and workplace requirements.
Combining classroom-based learning with realistic practical exercises, delegates will develop the knowledge, practical skills and confidence required to assess emergency situations, provide life-saving first aid, manage casualties with injuries and illnesses, and administer appropriate treatment until professional medical assistance arrives.
This comprehensive course is suitable for individuals who have been appointed as workplace first aiders or who require a full First Aid at Work qualification.

- Burns, scalds and eye injuries.
- Head, spinal, chest and abdominal injuries.
- Heart attack, stroke, epilepsy, asthma and diabetes.
- Anaphylaxis and allergic reactions.
- Seizures, poisoning and major illnesses.
- Incident recording and legal responsibilities.
Practical Training
- Performing adult CPR.
- Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Managing unconscious casualties and the recovery position.
- Treating choking emergencies.
- Controlling severe bleeding using appropriate dressings.
- Managing fractures, burns and other common workplace injuries.
- Responding to a range of medical emergencies.
- Participating in realistic casualty scenarios to reinforce practical competence.
Assessment
Delegates are assessed throughout the course through practical observation, simulated casualty scenarios and instructor questioning to confirm their knowledge, understanding and practical competence.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the course and assessment, delegates will receive a First Aid at Work Certificate issued through an approved first aid certification body.
The certificate is valid for three years, after which delegates should complete a recognised First Aid at Work (2 Day Refresher) course to maintain their qualification.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Delegates should be physically capable of participating in practical first aid activities, including kneeling on the floor to perform CPR, and possess a sufficient understanding of spoken and written English to fully participate in training and assessment.
Course Duration
This course is typically delivered over three days, although delivery arrangements may vary depending on organisational requirements and delegate numbers.
