Description

This course is designed for individuals who wish to develop a greater understanding of mental health, common mental health challenges and how they can appropriately support colleagues experiencing mental health difficulties. The course introduces mental health and considers some of the common challenges and conditions that may affect individuals. Learners develop awareness of how mental health difficulties can influence a person`s wellbeing, behaviour, relationships and working life, while recognising that individual experiences can vary considerably. Learners consider the importance of treating people experiencing mental health difficulties fairly, respectfully and without stigma or discrimination. The course explores appropriate ways of supporting colleagues, including listening without judgement, communicating sensitively, respecting individual circumstances and encouraging people to access appropriate support where required. The course promotes greater awareness and understanding of mental health within the workplace and encourages learners to contribute to a supportive and respectful working environment. It provides general mental health awareness and does not qualify learners to diagnose, treat or provide clinical advice in relation to mental health conditions.
