Description

This course is designed for individuals who use email as part of their work and want to improve their ability to communicate clearly, professionally and effectively through email. The course introduces appropriate use of email and considers when another form of communication, such as a telephone call or face-to-face discussion, may be more suitable. Learners explore the structure of professional emails and the appropriate use of recipients, CC, BCC, subject lines, greetings, email content, sign-offs and signatures. Learners develop practical techniques for writing clear and concise emails, managing tone, structuring information and formatting messages appropriately. The course also considers handling emotionally charged communications, using attachments effectively and proofreading messages before they are sent. The course explores good practice when replying to and forwarding emails, using Reply All appropriately, protecting confidential information and managing an email inbox effectively. Learners also consider email security, timing and the importance of recognising that emails create a permanent written record. Overall, the course aims to provide learners with the knowledge and practical techniques required to write clear, professional and effective emails and use email appropriately as a workplace communication tool.
